What started as a side project turned into an international sensation? The answer is Suicide Silence. A mix between death metal and metal core, Suicide Silence captures the attention of the hated press and the crazy yet loving kids. Founded in 2002 by 28-year-old vocalist Mitch Lucker, Suicide Silence’s first performance was a local area in Riverside, California; the same area Lucker, born on October 20, 1984, grew up with his two brothers, Clifford and Kelton, mother, Denise and father, Kip. Lucker began his musical career in garage the after his brother asked him to sing the lyrics to a Hatebreed song the band was covering. At a very young age, he developed O.C.D., or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder which was a part of an anxiety disorder that his father,

a Sheriff, also suffered with. Lucker felt like a zombie on anti-psychotic medication so, Mitch turned to solutions that are more ‘natural’. With his father gone, his mother, a nurse, started stealing prescription drugs, then doing morphine, and finally heroin. According to an article in ROCKSOUND, “Everyone thinks ‘Lifted’ is about smoking weed,” he continues, as he grows comfortable with the confession. “It is actually about me telling her to stop using intravenous drugs and wishing she would just smoke weed instead. A lot of this new record is actually about me either arguing with her or putting thoughts in her head about how stupid her actions are.” “Lifted” is one of the many songs on   Suicide Silence’s No Time To Bleed.

The album debuted #32 on Billboard’s Top 200, selling 14,000 copies in the U.S. alone shortly after the release. Also on the Billboard’s Top 200, was #94 The Cleansing, #32 Suicide Silence, and #28 The Black Crown. The Black Crown was #7 on Billboard’s Rock Albums, #6 on Billboard’s Independent Albums, and #3 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums. Before Lucker could open with Suicide Silence for Asking Alexandria on November 16, he tragically passed after crashing his motorcycle in Huntington Beach, California. At the vigil, family and friends gathered to celebrate Lucker’s life. A memorial fund opened for his 5-year-old daughter Kenadee to help continue financial support for her schooling, and other  necessities.
